After a two year wait, we can all rejoice at the fact that Netflix finally released the new season of their documentary series, Abstract: The Art of Design. The series takes a deep dive into the minds of some of the biggest leading designers across multiple creative fields.
Created by Scott Dadich, the former editor-in-chief of Wired, the show is as entertaining as it is inspiring and informative. Season one featured the likes of legendary Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield, Danish Architect Bjarke Ingels, and Chrysler Automobile designer Ralph Gilles. Now season 2 brings a new combination of talent, from bio architecture, to digital product design and more.
Each episode highlights a different designer and their artform. This season we are looking forward to seeing and learning from Ian Spalter, former head of design at Instagram and current head of design of Instagram Japan. Also, the episode featuring Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, who has bridged the gap between his artistic vision and architecture.
“The next season of Abstract builds on the original vision for the series, presenting new and diverse perspectives about how the creative process actually works—from the visionary folks designing the future,” Dadich said in a press release. “I hope Abstract continues to inspire people all over the planet, those new to art and design, as well as anyone curious about how our world works.”
